A Cozy Pilgrimage Lodge Where Koi and Quiet Bring Peace
Located just a 5–7 minute walk from JR Iyo-Ōzu Station, Tokiwa Ryokan is a peaceful five-room inn nestled in a quiet corner of Ōzu. Known for its warm hospitality rooted in the tradition of osettai (kindness to pilgrims), it offers thoughtful support especially for walking pilgrims, led by an experienced host who has walked the pilgrimage routes himself. The tranquil courtyard pond filled with koi creates a soothing ambiance—many guests say it helped ease their worries the moment they arrived.

The owner is happy to advise on pilgrimage routes from Ōzu to Matsuyama, offering insights beyond what any map can provide. Accommodations are simple Japanese-style private rooms (no dorms), with access to shared facilities like a washing machine, microwave, and rental bicycles. Check-out is at 8 a.m.—perfect for those heading out early on their next leg. With its fusion of practicality and homelike warmth, this small ryokan quietly restores your strength for the road ahead.

It is about 20 km from Shikoku 88 temples temple No. 43 Meiseki-ji to our hotel.
When you go through the entrance, you will feel as if you have slipped back in time to the Showa era.
The owner himself has experience walking the Shikoku pilgrimage to worship, and is involved in maintenance and conservation activities for the Henro-michi in his hometown of Ozu City.
Together with the children of the Boy Scouts, he also made and installed information boards and rest chairs on the Tosaka Pass and the special Kanayama Shusseki-ji temple, and provided social support for the pilgrims walking around Shikoku. I am making a contribution.
For pilgrims heading to Daiho-ji Temple and Iwaya-ji Temple, we also provide route guidance and information on lodgings.
If you have a chance, please stop by “Tokiwa Ryokan”. We’ll be expecting you.

I’m sure everyone has their own favorite inn, but one of my favorites is Tokiwa Ryokan.
Stay overnight to see this pond. It’s well maintained and I’m always interested in it.

Owner behavior:
Experienced visiting 88 places on the Shikoku pilgrimage and 20 exceptional temples. Every year, we carry out maintenance and conservation activities for the Torisaka Pass (pass road between Seiyo City and Ozu City) and the Shusseki-ji 3 Route Henro Road. As part of our social contribution, we also pick up trash and remove fallen trees together with local Boy Scout children.

Equipment and supplies:
There is characteristic in building in itself, and there is pond where colored carp swims in courtyard of hall, and atmosphere is Spanish patio style. Laundry is a reception, and after using a high-speed dehydrator, each person hangs it in their room.

The round trip from Tokiwa Ryokan to Shusseki-ji Temple is about 25km. At the time of departure, he gave me detailed instructions on how to choose a worship route and explanations with photos. Every year, it seems that they are doing maintenance and conservation activities for the 3 routes of visiting Shusseki-ji Temple, and it is definitely the most detailed inn in Ozu city. This accommodation is exclusively for pilgrims.
