Review Summary from External Sites

Guests frequently highlight the inn’s cleanliness and traditional architecture, noting touches such as fresh flower arrangements in the bathroom and a tasteful tokonoma (alcove) or garden that evoke a sense of refined hospitality. Pilgrims especially appreciate the host’s support: “The owner even handled laundry and drying for me,” and “I could leave my luggage behind and walk freely.” While some note the building is a bit dated, many stress that “it’s spotless and very comfortable.” Another common sentiment is the care given to preparing rice balls for early morning departures, showing the deep thoughtfulness of the host. Overall, Ebisuya Ryokan is highly regarded for its warmth, practicality, and ability to restore both body and spirit.

Flowers are arranged not only in the washroom and toilet, but also in the bathroom, so you can feel the hospitality.
Rather than “oldness”, I felt the “taste” of Japanese architecture such as the courtyard and alcove.
From Uchiko, it’s less than 30km on a gentle uphill, which I think is a good distance for a walking pilgrim.
The proprietress of the inn recommended a route over Hiwada Pass, but she avoided Hiwada Pass and Nousonoto Pass and chose a detour route to No.45 Daiho-ji via the prefectural and national highways. So she didn’t get joint pain in her knees. I was able to arrive at the next inn early.
This inn is recommended not only for walking pilgrims who want to go to Hiwata Pass, but also for pilgrims who are worried about their knees and who are tired.
Laundry is paid, but the proprietress did everything until drying. Dinner was plentiful.
When I told them that I would be leaving before 6:00 in the morning, they gave me a rice ball.
