A gentle resting place nestled in the quiet of the mountains
Tucked away beyond the traditional tile-making village of Kikuma, Aoki Jizō-dō’s tsuyado is a humble wooden shelter offering peace and rest after a demanding day on the pilgrimage trail. Inside its simple wooden room, futons are prepared, and with permission from nearby Enpuku-ji Temple, pilgrims can stay overnight at no cost. Pilgrims can also visit the sacred “Okaji-mizu” spring, associated with Kōbō Daishi, to gently refresh both body and spirit. It’s a quiet place where one can realign with themselves, prepare for the journey ahead, and feel the quiet support of the pilgrimage path.
