In the mountain village after Yakeyama-ji, a smile and curry soothe the tired body
Sudachian is a welcoming inn nestled in the peaceful countryside, just at the foot of Yakeyama-ji—a place pilgrims often dream of reaching after a long descent. This renovated traditional Japanese house offers six clean tatami rooms, along with practical amenities like laundry machines, Wi‑Fi, and covered parking for bicycles and cars. What leaves a lasting impression is the warm hospitality of the owner, a fellow pilgrim, who offers hearty curry dinners, toast-refillable breakfasts, and even shuttle service to nearby Kamiyama Onsen. Conversations with other pilgrims around the table and the thoughtful touches only a pilgrim can offer create a deeply comforting atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that quietly revives your strength for the next day’s journey.

Greetings from the owner
Nice to meet you all. Sudachi-an is near the 12th temple, Shosan-ji Temple.
Overcoming the most difficult pilgrimage in Shikoku, the legs and waist are at their limit… This Nabeiwa district, which you can reach in about an hour from Shosan-ji Temple, is a post station that has supported such pilgrims since long ago. Snacks, drinks and alcoholic beverages are available. We also provide transportation to and from Kamiyama Onsen. (About 12 minutes by car) There is a covered parking lot and a bicycle parking lot that are friendly to motorcycle riders and cyclist pilgrims.
Of course, those who want to tour around Shikoku without being involved in the pilgrimage are also welcome!

Many visitors praise the location as “conveniently close to the base of Yakeyama-ji,” which brings a sense of relief upon arrival. The clean Japanese-style rooms offer a relaxing stay, and both dinner and breakfast receive high marks for generous portions and satisfying flavors. Guests also appreciate that the owner—himself a former pilgrim—is easy to talk to and offers services like hot spring shuttles and luggage storage. As a place that heals the fatigue of the road, Sudachian is highly regarded by many as a comforting and practical inn for walking pilgrims.
We stayed after Shosan-ji Temple on the 3rd day of the pilgrimage.
★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)
I had a great time talking with the owner and Iloilo, and I was able to spend a homely night!
It was very helpful that he came to pick up my luggage at the inn I stayed at on the day before Shosan-ji!
This is an inn where you will want to meet the owner again and again.
I was indebted to nearly 50 guesthouses, but this was the most impressive one. I was exhausted from my first pilgrimage, but the warm welcome made me feel at ease. I was very grateful for the hot spring transfer, and I had a lot of fun talking with Mr. Sudachian.Thank you very much.
★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)
The owner is very knowledgeable about the pilgrimage, but I couldn’t hear him very well when he talked to me about his criticism of other lodgings. It seems to be a person who likes to talk, but it may not be for people who want to take a rest.
★★★ (3 out of 5 stars)
Although it was a guest house, the area occupied by individuals was small. I was the only guest, so it was still good, but if there was a roommate, it would have been cramped. Cost performance is not good. If you have any other suggestions, I would recommend them.
★★ (2 out of 5 stars)
Both dinner and breakfast were hearty, and the owner of the inn was gentle and friendly. In June, I heard that you can see fireflies in the river behind the hotel, so after dinner, I went to see fireflies with other guests. On this day, there were 4 foreigners, 1 Japanese, me, and I had a great time using the translation app on a worldwide night.

If you look up “Shikoku Pilgrimage,” the first thing you’ll see is “Pilgrimage Rolling.”
★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)
This is an inn located at the foot of the mountain. Whether you are physically fit or not, it is a good idea to stay here due to its location.
There were two buildings, but I stayed in a large Japanese-style room. After dinner, I was grateful to him for consulting me on the route for the next day.
Both the owner and staff are experienced pilgrims, so you can hear many stories about the pilgrimage.
★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)
was searching for accommodations during my pilgrimage, and although it was a holiday when I contacted them on the day of my arrival, the owner kindly provided me with lodging. Upon arrival, I felt that they had been considerate just from our telephone interactions. The private room with a mosquito net, the hospitality with food and drink—it was all truly appreciated. I am grateful for everything.
★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)
We depart from No. 11 Fujiidera early in the morning, visit No. 12 Shosan-ji Temple, and then walk down the slope to reach the inn.
★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)
If you’re a strong runner, you’ll arrive at the inn in the afternoon.
In my case, I arrived around 1pm and killed time by drinking canned beer sold at the inn lol
In June, if the conditions are right, you can see fireflies in the river behind the inn.
A view of a good old Japanese hometown.
