Guests frequently praise the inn’s hearty and home-style meals, saying “The food was delicious and very filling,” and appreciate the relaxing bath: “I was able to soak and ease my fatigue from the pilgrimage.” Laundry amenities are also popular: “The washer and dryer were cheap to use, which was a big help.” Hospitality is a major highlight, with comments such as “I was offered shochu as an osettai” and “They kindly stored my luggage.” While a few guests noted that “There were many bugs in the sink area,” overall reviews describe the inn as “A comfortable place to stay with satisfying meals and warm-hearted service.”
I made a reservation because the food photos on the inn’s website looked genuinely delicious, but the experience turned out to be a big letdown.
★★★ (3 out of 5 stars)
Maybe my disappointment was so strong because I had high expectations.
If I hadn’t expected so much, I might have thought it was just average.
Still, I don’t think I’ll be staying here again.
The meals were terrible — completely different from the photos shown. Among accommodations at this price range, this place is definitely the worst.
★ (1 out of 5 stars)
Another pilgrim was so furious about the poor meal that they argued loudly with the hostess.
The quality of rooms varies greatly depending on which one you get.
Since the lodging at Kongōchōji Temple was closed, they seem to be taking advantage of having no competition — it’s like they’re running a monopoly.
