Experience a Former School: A Riverside Retreat for Pilgrims
Nestled along the clear waters of the Odagawa River, Ikadaya is a unique lodging facility renovated from a closed elementary school. The building thoughtfully recreates the charm of the former Konishiya pilgrim inn, blending nostalgia with comfort. The two-story wooden structure features clean, well-kept Japanese-style rooms, and one of its highlights is gathering around the traditional irori hearth to enjoy delicious homemade local dishes prepared by the welcoming “mothers” of the area. In summer, guests can enjoy river play, experience rural village life, or explore the cultural heritage preserved in the nearby museum. More than just a place to stay, Ikadaya offers pilgrims and travelers alike a moment of rest, warmth, and cultural connection along their journey.

The facilities were clean and the food was good. There seems to be no Wi-Fi, but the washer and dryer are free.
Good location if you leave Uchiko around noon and are about 15 km away. It looks like a public inn and is not a full-time hotel, but it costs about 8700 yen for one night and two meals at GW. Free laundry. Wi-Fi △ TV air conditioner available. The toilet is clean. Whether you can order rice balls for lunch depends on the person in charge. (Charged) The goodness of public facilities is an advantage. The downside is the instability of the shift (note the business day) that is not a business inn.
Conclusion. I would stay again.
