A Hilltop Haven Wrapped in Smiles and Citrus-Scented Baths
Nestled at the base of Mt. Tsurugi in Tokushima Prefecture, “Minshuku Momiji no Sato” is a trusted resting spot along the Shikoku Pilgrimage route. With two Japanese-style rooms and one Western-style room, the inn offers a homey, comforting atmosphere—like staying at a relative’s house. The hostess’s warm hospitality is especially praised, gently lifting the spirits and fatigue of weary walkers. Facilities such as a washing machine, dryer, and Wi-Fi are fully available, ensuring convenience during long journeys. Notably, the inn closes during the local mandarin harvest in November, reflecting its strong ties to the community. It’s the kind of place that invites pilgrims to pause and rest—just when they need it most.

The hotel is located after the 18th and 19th stops from Tokushima city. I chose it because it wasn’t far from number 20. However, due to blistering shoes and the heat, I had no choice but to give up on my future plans, and I couldn’t sleep due to the disappointment and was feeling pretty depressed, but the owner’s warm, homely treatment and smile made me feel at ease and very soothing. . thank you for helping me.
